SMS is a technology which provides sending and receipt of short message service by mobile phone or through special on-line services (for example: Comtube). SMS is maintained by cellular network (GSM, DAMPS, CDMA, NMT, UMTS), but some operators of connection (for example: in Moscow «Moscow city telephone network») provides SMS service for usual stationary phone for users (it is necessary to have a special phone). Some services provide sending text messages free of payment, but in this case user is usually redirected to operators’ websites (MTS, Beeline, Megafon and etc.), where it is necessary to enter captcha and see advertising and it is impossible to substitute your number, so you cannot answer user.

Alpha-numeric characters are allowed in text. The quantity of characters in one text message may be changed depending on encoding. For example: using English words (Latin alphabet), one message has 160 characters, and using Russian words (Cyrillic alphabet), one message has 70 characters. In case the size of message exceeds indicated features, so text message is segmented and each segment is terrified as a separate text message.
